My oldest laptop is grinding down its last days and I have a new one on the way. Can I just install build 233 and add the serial number and not install from the
Cd at all?

Remember, Bro James is an Alabama fan. You have to computer slowly ;)
When you deactivate, you do have to be on the internet, right?
What happens if you are not on the net, call it in?

Correct. Deactivation requires the internet.
If you're not online, call it in. Or, better yet, get online. :-)

I understood from John recently that something had changed so that a license was auto deactivated with a full uninstall. Is this not the case or did I misunderstand.

Actually Bear Bryant invented the internet so all Alabama fans have the internet. John has to now become a Tennessee fan so no one from Alabama or Auburn will ever trust him again. Thanks Nathan I fortunately the old laptop has just enough left to take care of the uninstall and the new laptop should be here tomorrow so we will see what happens.

OK New puter here> Asus G74Sx Intel I7 2.0 2,8 Turbo Boost Windows 7 Home Premium. Nvidia GTX 560 M Video with 2 gigs of RAM. Donloaded build 233 and seemed to install correctly but got the attached error message when I tried to open the program
That's gonna be a developer question. We've seen this one before.. but now it's official. I think we've got a config problem. :P
Thanks for being a beta tester! :)

How long before this issue can be resolved. Do you think I can go back a build or 2 and not have the problem. Fortunately have another puter with MS so it is not a big issue at the moment

Sorry Ken did not realize that this was same issue. Instlalled 231 and worked fine. Updated to 233 and the error appeared. Tried the back door method from John in other thread with no luck. Back to uninstalling and reinstalling 231

Is it because you are starting with 231? The update on the home computer went fine. But have not tried the church because of the cue edit bug.

James,
Is your OS fully patched on the new computer? (Have you done all Windows updates?)
Went through Johns formula above. When I installed 223 and tried to start I received the Naperiron Service error but it went away. I installed 233 but it still says that it is 223. Has the splash screen been updated. I then tried going back and installing 231 since I thought 233 was not installing properly. When I started installation said that I had a newer version of MS and it could not install 231. So do I now have 233 installed and the splash screen is wrong?

So James,
Was the initial install on the new machine done with the B233 update or a full installer? Try running a repair of the install to clear up the splash screen.

Once again unstalled MS4. Reinstalled build 223 and then installed build 233 and got the same error as in the original attachment. Have had no problems with running 223 or 231 that I have installed at various times over the past day. Guess I am shut out of 233 until someone figures out what is going on. Just send me beta version for MS 5 while I have noting better to do

Ken I am on Mr. Gates private download list. Actually it must take the date off my computer which I just realized is a day ahead, In checking on the side by side error on Google it seems to be in most instances it has to do with Microsoft Visual C++. Maybe there was an update that affescted that at least on my puter.

OK, while I was working on the computer early this morning, someone took a wrong turn and hit a tree, which hit a power pole which caused the power to flicker, go out, come back on with a brown out, and apparently blow the power unit on the computer.
Hopefully the replacement power unit will handle the problem. If not one of the problems is that this is the computer which I have MS installed and use to create the playlists. So if the motherboard is dead how do I get that install deactivated so I can install on another computer. I think that it maybe the first install but not sure. We may actually have one more install license left, I bought 5 and can account for 4, I think.

The "Side by Side" issue is tied to a Windows update that not all system are getting from Microsoft or at least not right away. The file that resolves the issue is Microsoft Visual C++2005 Redistributable package (version 8.0.61001) and can be found here. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347.
However, we should have a new beta tomorrow or Friday that should include this update. If you need the fix ASAP, by all means download the file. If it is not pressing, I would appreciate those who are having the issue to wait for the new beta to confirm the fix.

James, did you install from the B233 update? If so, I think that may be where the issue lies. Follow the instructions for a clean install https://mediacomplete.zendesk.com/entries/81892-doing-a-clean-reins... and use the B223 full installer to reinstall, then update to B233. https://mediacomplete.zendesk.com/entries/248513-full-download-inst...
