Build 233 failed to start after install

I got this error after doing an install on top of build 231.    I placed a notepad doc in the beta folder with the event information in it.   UPDATE was able to go back to 231 without issue ( other than having to go through the license thing again).

I installed fine, of a course I was sing 'War Eagle' and had my lucky Auburn beat Alabama shirt on. Maybe ;)

Also did not get the Did Not Install Properly alert. Sorta missed it actually. And it does seem to load faster, would love to install at church but no time to recover if it did not install properly.

Anyway WAR EAGLE Bro James!!!

Mine seems to have installed fine. Everything works OK so far.

According to the event log it is the Nalperion Licensing Service that is causing the issue.   Checked task manager and it is running so not sure what else to do.  I tried downloading it again today to see if that made a difference but it didn't.   Went back to 231 and it installed and runs fine.

Try using the License Managers back door to deactivate. Go to Program Files(x86 if a 64 bit)/MediaComplete/MediaShout 4/ and double click the License Manager.exe file and let me know if you were able to repair.

OK, my laptop did this error when I upgraded from 220, what was the solution other than uninstall and go lower?

Wish I knew.   Let me know if you find out.   I'm still on 231.

Uninstalled and went to 223. Improvement over 220 which was in there before and it runs better. I guess I'll stay here until they figure it out.

Interestingly, when I uninstalled and reinstalled, it remembered the license info. That was nice so I did not have to re-enter it at least.

For James, the solution was a Windows update. Please check for Windows Updates and let me know what you find. If at all possible, track which updates are installed.

the laptop is a Vista Home Edition if that makes any difference. It ran an update just before I installed 233 or whatever the latest Beta is. I updated because the 220 was running a little flaky.

I tried running the updates after James got his working.   But it didn't work for me.   If you want I can get you a list of the updates I installed.

The "Side by Side" issue is tied to a Windows update that not all system are getting from Microsoft or at least not right away. The file that resolves the issue is Microsoft Visual C++2005 Redistributable package (version 8.0.61001) and can be found here. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347.

However, we should have a new beta tomorrow or Friday that should include this update. If you need the fix ASAP, by all means download the file. If it is not pressing, I would appreciate those who are having the issue to wait for the new beta to confirm the fix.

Ken,

I would like to thank you for all the help in the GS forum. Lately you have been hitting it pretty hard which has relieved a lot of pressure on me. I cannot thank you enough. You are the man.

Your welcome John.   And I'll wait on the next build and see if it fixes the issue.

Build 235 Install went fine.  It updated the C++ and MS now starts and runs.  I did notice that the first start up of MS after the install was very very slow.   But after first run  it opens and runs fine.   MOV files and MP4's were also slow to start during first run.   After closing and re-opening they all start and run great. I'm sure this has something to do with the initial start up but thought I'd mention it.

Install was fine, but it does seem to load scripts a lot slower, even after several tries.
