Occasionally our users experience issues with their MediaShout v4 song database getting corrupt.  Unfortunately, a corrupt database cannot always be fixed.  What we typically recommend is replacing the corrupt database with a good copy.

Here are instructions for doing this for MediaShout v4:

  1. Download a copy of the original MediaShout v4 song databasehttp://download.mediacomplete.com/V4Resources/Songs4.Original.zip
  2. Unzip the downloaded file to the v4 Song Library folder.  (You will need to rename or delete the corrupt database file.  The file by default is named Songs4.mdb.)

                                   XP:  Unzip to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\My Shout\V4\Song Library

Vista and Windows 7:  Unzip to C:\Public\My Shout\V4\Song Library

After extracting the files, you will need to open MediaShout v4 and go to the Songs Deck and click the Song Library Tools Menu button (upside down blue arrow at the top right corner).  Choose Restore and select a backup file to restore from (if you have a good backup). If you do not have a good backup and you try to import the songs from a corrupt database you will receive an error. You would then go back through these steps and replace the file per these instructions above.
