Sometimes users need to export their songs from MediaShout version 3.x and import them into MediaShout version 4.  Here are instructions on how to do this:  (If you have v3 and v4 on the same computer, then skip straight to step 2.)

Step 1

In MediaShout v3.x:

  1. Go to Tools>ShoutSinger.
  2. Choose File>Export Songs.
  3. Select ShoutSong Data File v3 as the Destination Type.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click the Browse button to choose where you want to save the file on your computer.
  6. At the bottom, give the new file a name.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select the song/s you want to export.
  9. Click Finish.

When the exporting is finished, a confirmation will appear to tell you how many songs were selected and exported.  (If MediaShout v4.x is on a separate computer, then you can copy the saved file onto a jump drive, cd, etc. and take it to the target computer.)

Step 2

In MediaShout v4.x:

  1. Go to File>Song Library>Import Songs>From Files.
  2. Choose ShoutSong Data File v3 as the Source Type.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click on the Browse button.  This will let you browse the computer to find the v3.x file that was exported.
  5. After selecting the file, click Next.  The next window will give you the option to choose Import All Songs or Skip Duplicates.
  6. Click Import.

After this is done, you will now have all of your v3.x songs in the v4.x song library.
