Hello,
We've used mediashout for years. I cannot find a way to import our songs including their format and backgrounds from 6 to 7. I understand that the lyrics library has changed and only has the words now, but I'm assuming then there is an easy way to transfer them into cues which does have that functionality. This certainly is something almost every past user would want, so I'm sure there is a way, but I haven't found it. Is there a script or something to do this? Thank you.

Hey Ron,

Yes, you are correct. When you import a MediaShout 6 song library, it does strip away the backgrounds and things. We hope to one day improve this to allow those to carry over, but I'm not sure when that would be implemented. I apologize.

In the meantime, you may be able to import your MediaShout 6 scripts that have the lyrics in them with the background and everything. Then, you can save that to the Cues Library for next time.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

When I try to import (from Window 10 MS6) the .ssc file into MS7, I get an error "we are sorry. We can not open this file..."
In MS7 "Insert" -> "Import" -> "Import from V6"
Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Paul!

In MediaShout 7, you would follow these steps to import the Song Library into MediaShout 7: Click the Import Lyrics button in the bottom left corner (a piece of paper icon with an arrow going into it). and choose the .SSC file that you have from MediaShout 6.

If you are only trying to import just a MediaShout 6 presentation, that's when you would use the "Insert" -> "Import" -> "Import from V6"

I hope this helps!

Ryan, Thank you for the reply.
The import of the Song Library into MediaShout 7 is crap. It doesn't preserve much of the text spacing and looses all the verse/chorus orders. Our media tech is going to spend hours recovering from the transition.
Yes, I am trying to import a MediaShout 6 presentation and getting the message "we are sorry. We can not open this file..."
Any idea why / how to resolve?

Hey Paul,

I'm sorry to hear that. We are looking to make that better with each update.

Does this happen with all files that you try to bring in? Or just this one?

And, when you go to Help > About, are you on 7.2.8.1622?

Thanks,

Ryan,
Background - For the transition time between MS6 and MS7, we are using a new Windows 10 machine to host MS7.
I copied the entire "Media Complete" and "My Shout" directories from the old W10 machine.
I copied all our MS6 scripts, example: MS Script 2020-01-19.ssc" from the old machine.
MS6 was the latest version, 6.3.80.11328.
MS7 is also the latest 7.2.8.1622.

I have found a few of the old MS6 scripts that will import:
\My Shout MS Version6\MediaShout 6\v6 Template Examples.ssc
\My Shout MS Version6\2015\MS Script 2015-12-09 ADVENT II.ssc
\My Shout MS Version6\2016\2016-07-31.ssc
\My Shout MS Version6\2017\MS Script 2017-09-10 GWOH.ssc

But, I can't find any .ssc generated in the last 3 years that will open.
I don't know of anything "fundamental" with the newer files. Any idea?
I have been able to recover some content from the old files, but I would like to recover (save) more.

Hey Paul,

Thank you for that example. No, it does not open for me either. I will pass this along to the team so they can dig into it.

Thanks!
