Saving modifications or edits to lyrics.

I imported our entire library of songs from Mediashout 5 to Mediashout 7 (MS7). Most songs have imported without a hitch. However, there are a few that need tweaking. I can tweak them in script when I insert a cue, but that is not great on the fly. MS5 allowed me to edit the lyric file so that every time it is inserted, that changes were already made. Is this functionality not in MS7 yet or have I not been able to find it. I would like to modify the lyric file so that every time I insert it into a script, the changes I have made are always there.

Hey Lisa,

Sorry for the delay. In MediaShout 7, there is the Cues Library. This is where all of your edited and adjusted lyrics/Scriptures/Announcements/etc. will be stored. So, once you pull in your lyric for the first time (and make all of the necessary adjustments), you would then go over to the left side and click the "Star" icon to add that cue to the Cues Library (located on the very right side when you click the larger "star" icon).

I hope this is helpful!

If I understand correctly, I cannot save changes to the lyrics in the lyric library. In order to save any modifications to a lyric cue, it must be saved to the cue library. There is no way to modify lyrics in the lyric library, correct?

Hey Lisa,

Yes, that is correct. The Lyric library just stores your lyrics. This is used to pull in the lyrics for the very first time. Then, you add a background and adjust the text and save it to the Cues Library for next time.

I hope that makes sense!

So I'm going to have about 2000 songs in the lyrics database and 400+ in the Cues Library. Is this the way it was designed to work?

Hey Terry,

That sounds like good numbers.

So, you don't see an inherent problem with this design?

Terry,

No, I don't. If you don't use all of those 2000 songs, I might suggest cleaning that up a bit. But, that's it.

I agree with Terry. Another HUGE step backwards and a BIG confusion factor. Not intuitive at all.

Hey Jim.

I totally understand. In the past, anytime you would jump more than one version ahead, it would require that you export the library as a .txt file and bring it over that way. This is essentially what we are doing with MediaShout 7. If we didn't do this, and instead tried to bring everything over (backgrounds, formatting, etc.), we found that it would create massive incompatibility issues.

I know that reformatting text and adding a background can be somewhat tedious. But, with Presets and Templates (coming soon), that should become much easier. I do apologize for the extra work involved, however.

And, for the size of the library. We do intend to improve MediaShout 7 to be able to work well with large libraries. But, even when that time comes, we would still like to see a smaller library to help with the functionality and speed of the program.

I hope this is helpful.

God Bless!

Is it possible to set up or edit the Default Preset for the Lyrics and Bible?
That would cut the work down in size considerably.

David,

Not at this time, no. We plan to have Templates added into MediaShout 7 in one of the next couple of updates. When those get added, it should then allow you setup a default Template that will be applied when inserting Bible Scripture, Lyrics, etc.

I apologize that this is not available right now.

Hey Ryan,

Unfortunately, it has not been added just yet. They were thinking that it would have been much sooner, but they ran into a few issues. I apologize.

We hope to have this released coming very soon over the next few months.
