Splitting verses in the Lyrics Library

Does v7 have the means to create the page splits in the verses while in the lyrics library? Basically making a Verse 1a, 1b, etc.... In version 6, it used to be hitting Ctrl+Enter to create the page line in the verse. Knowing that you had the capability in prior version and not the newer, please don't tell me it wasn't a popular need. That would tell me that you surveyed a bunch of users that don't really use it much for services or live stream purposes. The true users seem to be complaining of all the removed capabilities that were heavily used. Again, is there the capability in v7 to page split the verses like as in v6; without having to save your mods to the cue library?

I appreciate your input on this debate. The capability to add page breaks while in the Lyrics Library (while still in the Insert Lyrics tool) is not available but they can be added once the lyric is in the script. There are two arguments for being able to save those changes to the Library (original database). One is, if you make changes, it's handy to be able to save them to the Library for future use, like in v6. The other is, if I make changes (like deleting a chorus) and save them to the Cues Library I still have the original, complete lyric in my database to refer to if I need that chorus at some time in the future. There are correct parts to both, and each has it's own benefits.

In regards with the other option (changes different to the original) - I created variations even in version 6 based on if red or blue hymnal, or praise team variation. So that factor is moot in my actions. But no matter what, I was able to determine page break in any one of those variations while in the lyrics library (in v6 and prior). It seems doubling; both in purpose and probably program file size, to use cue library as a second lyrics library. But I guess that was the intended purpose.
If it wasn't for the background color change for stage settings (in order to chromaset the words for streaming), I'd probably still be using v6 for everything. Sadly v7 has backtracked on a lot of features previously used by (from what I'm reading) a lot of users. Templates is a constant call out, but it's been over 10 months since hearing it's coming.
But overall in reviewing other platforms, MediaShout is still a strong platform for service presentations. Don't ever get rid of the Bible or Lyrics library for anything. But please (developers) look into integrating some of the popular features back into 7 from 6.

We appreciate your valued feedback! With regards to Templates, we are now expecting them to be in the very next update, scheduled for later in August. Keep an eye out for an email about that, or you can watch the Windows Change Log in the Knowledge Base. Thank you for your continued support!

I am glad to hear that the templates are coming back soon. But the song library is a huge thing for myself and the other volunteers. I would love to see the V6 functionality returned.

Hey Doug,

Thanks again for the feedback, and I know exactly what you mean. I love and miss this functionality from Version 6 as well, and hope to see it integrated back in soon. I'll pass this message along to our team and hopefully get that in the books under our "Feature Requests" if it isn't already. Again, I really appreciate your patience and dedication to being a part of MediaShout, and since the new build is releasing soon, hope that will alleviate some of the frustration you're having now as well.

Let us know if you have further suggestions or questions. We're happy to help!

God bless,

This is something I'd like to see again as well. I'm a long time user of v6 and this option is a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. You don't want to have to reformat the song every time you insert it into a new script if you've decided you need to make changes to the cue.

We have v7 but haven't switched over yet, after a long time in v6. I see this as a HUGE problem, as I will have to rework every song every time ... unless I build a shadow song library over in Cues.

Hey Jason and Margo,

I hear where you guys are coming from. We don't have a fix for this just yet, but we plan to implement a new way of bringing songs in at some point down the road.

In the meantime, you could setup a Template or Templates that have a lot of your formatting already applied. You can set a Template to have a certain Font Style, size, and Shadow/Outline and quickly apply that to other songs by applying the Template. This should help tremendously as you insert new songs and things into your Script. Then, you can save these Lyrics to your Cues Library for next time so it is perfect as soon as you call it in.

I hope this is helpful as our team works on an update!

I do have to admit since conversation back 5 months ago, I've learned to make a few adjustments in my script creation. One being clicking on the cue star after finalizing my song lyrics; in order to have a copy (both main and stage) sitting in the cue library. I've gone back to that library a few times already to pull the copy out for a new script using that song and saved some extra time.
Thanks partially for the template return also for those lyric scripts that are not prepped yet for the stage style needed. I'm not sure what's going on with the Bible side with the template as it doesn't seem to work most of the time. But the lyrics templates (including my own custom template) has been working well.
I'm sure some of the long time support members can attest that I can be a stickler for not wanting to change over at times, but I've also learned to adapt and provide feedback at times to support. Eventually we need to be both the persistent widow (parable) in request yet virtuous in patience with our brothers and sisters in support.
