MediaShout Version 4's Stage Display feature provides a third output for song lyrics, Bible verses, or text for on-stage personnel to view a simplified version of what the audience is seeing. It uses a simple white text over black background for maximum clarity, although you can customize the text color and size or use your own text. MediaShout recommends using using USB adapters built with the DisplayLink chipset to provide the perfect solution for adding a third display to your presentation computer. You can find compatible DisplayLink device on our website..
If you need to know how to use the Stage Display over CAT5 cable, there are a couple of different ways to do it. Neither is inexpensive.
Option 1: Use a CAT5 USB 2.0 extender to put a USB 2 port up to 300' away from the computer, and then plug a USB video adapter and monitor into that. Those solutions range from $300 to around $700 depending on what you buy. This has not been tested by us, and I cannot guarantee that it will work. But, it should theoretically.
Option 2: Use a CAT5 video extender to run a video signal (NTSC, S-Video, component, VGA, or DVI) up to several hundred feet away, and, plug your monitor into its adapter at the far end. These also range in the hundreds of dollars depending on the signal type, resolution, distance, and quality required. Extron is a common manufacturer who makes a broad range of devices that do this. I know that this will work, provided that you purchase a quality product and properly install it.
Neither option is a panacea. However, they do provide options for a variety of configurations. They can be reconfigured fairly easily. We recommend consulting with a qualified audio/visual vendor to ensure that what you get will work well in your situation.
