If you find that your presentation screen is mirroring your control screen, please follow the directions below carefully. These instructions will guide you through the entire process of setting up Windows Display Settings and MediaShout 6 properly. If you are having issues configuring the screen layout in MediaShout after you have followed these steps, this article (Display Setup Tool for MediaShout 6 (Windows Only) has a utility that may help.
Windows 10:
- Make sure that MediaShout is completely closed.
- Right-click on your desktop and left-click Display Settings from the drop down menu.
- Under Multiple Displays there will be a selection box that should be set to Extend these displays. It should NOT be set to Duplicate these displays.
- Click Identify and note which number physically shows up on the screen that the audience sees.
- Click on the numbered box in your screen resolution window that corresponds with your audience screen.
- At this point, you will need to determine what size your physical TV or projector screen is:
- 4:3 ratio (looks more like a square) = 1024x768
- 16:9 ratio (looks more like a rectangle) = 1280x720
- 16:10 ratio (looks like a rectangle as well but just a little taller) = 1280x800
- Once you have determined which resolution you have, change the resolution for your audience screen to one of the resolutions listed in step 6.
- Click Apply (if needed) and choose Keep Changes.
- Make sure that the Windows Wallpaper or background color spans the entire screen. If you see black bars on the top and bottom, or left and right, you have chosen the incorrect resolution. Go back to step 7 and try again.
- Under the numbered boxes, you will see the Scale and Layout section and Change the size of text, apps, and other items. Make sure that every numbered screen is at 100%. If you have changed any of these to 100%, please restart the computer, then continue on in these instructions.
- Open up MediaShout 6. Go to the Settings tab at the top, then click the General Settings button with the gear icon.
- On the Cue Setup tab, change the Main Display Resolution to match what you set in Windows. It should say (current) Next to the correct one in the list.
- Underneath, change it from Scale the cues to fit to Resize the cues. This reconstructs your cues instead of just stretches them to fit.
- If you have a stage display as well as an audience screen, change that resolution to match what you set in Windows as well, and change it to Resize the cues also.
- Hit Apply and Ok.
- Click on the Settings tab where you will see a drop-down menu called 1 Display. If you are using a control screen and audience screen, select 2 Displays. If you are using a control screen, audience screen, and stage display, choose 3 Displays.
- Close out of MediaShout and re-open it.
- Double-click one of your cues and you should be ready to go!
Windows 7 & 8:
- Make sure that MediaShout is completely closed.
- Right-click on your desktop. Right-click on your desktop and left-click Screen Resolution.
- Make sure that Multiple Displays says Extend these displays.
- Click Identify and note which number physically shows up on the screen that the audience sees.
- Click on the numbered box in your screen resolution window that corresponds with your audience screen.
- At this point, you will need to determine what size your physical TV or projector screen is:
- 4:3 ratio (looks more like a square) = 1024x768
- 16:9 ratio (looks more like a rectangle) = 1280x720
- 16:10ratio (looks like a rectangle as well but just a little taller) = 1280x800
- Once you have determined which resolution you have, change the resolution.
- Click Apply and Keep Changes.
- Make sure that the Windows Wallpaper spans the entire screen. If you see black bars on the top and bottom, or left and right, you have chosen the incorrect resolution. Go back to step 7 and try again.
- Open up MediaShout 6. Left-click Settings and General Settings and Cue Setup.
- Under Main Display change your Display Resolution to the resolution that you set in Windows.
- Underneath, change it from Scale the cues to fit to Resize the cues.
- If you have a stage display as well, change the resolution to match what you set in Windows as well, and change to Resize the cues also.
- Hit Apply and Ok.
- Click on the Settings tab where you will see a drop-down menu called 1 Display. If you are using a control screen and audience screen, select 2 Displays. If you are using a control screen, audience screen, and stage display, choose 3 Displays.
- Close out of MediaShout and re-open
- Double-click one of your cues and you should be ready to go!
