Changing Orientation or Rotation of Videos in MediaShout 6

There are times when you may find that your video is upside down or in the wrong orientation when inserting into MediaShout 6. Normally, this is caused when someone records a video from their smartphone, like an iPhone. Sometimes, when you record a video on your iPhone in horizontal mode, for example, the gimbal inside the iPhone doesn't register that you went from a vertical orientation to a horizontal one and records in the wrong orientation. You may even see that if you play that video in Win...

MediaShout 6 License Update 2020 (Customer Receives "Product Expired" When Activating MediaShout 6)

TL/DR (Summary): As of 1/14/20, if you are currently using MediaShout 6 software, you will need to download and install an update to continue using the software, but you will normally be given plenty of warning before it stops working. Important Note: If you know that you have an offline activation, and your computer is not normally connected to the internet for long periods of time, you will not need to update, and you should not do so. When we created MediaShout 7, one of the big changes...

Insert Lyric dialog is missing Stanzas and Insert button

There is a rare issue that the developers are aware of and are working on. On some systems, when the Insert Lyric window is open, the Stanzas column and the Insert button my be missing. We have discovered something in the registry is a bit off and deleting the specific key will allow MediaShout to create a new one. The zip file (https://mediacomplete.ladesk.com/scripts/file.php?file=abcd014af640d7dc663c785dcce99704) attached to the bottom of this article contains a new Reg Key. Once extracted,...

Save to Library not working

In MediaShout 6.2.62, we may have found a Bug (SIX-1795) that prevents the "Save to Library" option from working. Here is what we have found, When applying ANY change from the "Cue And Page Options" window under the Home tab, it will not let you save the changes to your Lyric Database. A side effect of this issue is, any Script containing Lyric Cues that have been modified using the Cue and Page Options in the Ribbon will not import/cannot be added to another computer from the script. Instea...

Auto Scroll Settings and Advancing Pages

With the new auto scroll settings in Mediashout 6 build 62, you may find that advancing through pages by double clicking sometimes causes the current page to disappear from view. You may need to scroll down to get back to the current page after you double click to fire it. If you have a smaller screen or smaller area dedicated to the pages section of the Mediashout workspace, you may need to change the auto scroll settings to avoid this behavior. Currently the auto scroll setting affects both t...

Videos Won't Play in MediaShout

If you are finding that upon firing a video inside of MediaShout, that it either crashes the program OR simply shows a "black" screen, it is very likely that your "codecs" need to be installed. It is possible that your computer performed a Windows update or your "codecs" were never installed. Your codecs are the recipe on how Windows plays your videos in MediaShout. Follow this link and the instructions specifically and you'll be up and running. This link should work for all versions of MediaSho...

Importing SlideShows Can Use Memory

If you are importing rather large PowerPoint files, it can use up a lot of memory to build all your slides out. Our recommendation is to open your script, import your PowerPoint first, save the script and close and reopen MediaShout. We understand this is an inconvenience, but we have our developers working on this and hope to have it resolved in a future update.

Backgrounds Disappearing

A KNOWN ISSUE appeared in Build 49 and was thought to be fixed in B62. If the thumbnail went black, so did the main screen. However, the thumbnail no longer goes black, so we thought this one was resolved. But it is still present in B62 and is related to Backgrounds disappearing within a multipage cue (namely Lyrics) when editing the presentation. We have identified the cause and are working on a solution. However, the immediate workaround is to: 1) Select your Background image in the Edit Area...

DLL or Ordinal Error when installing or running MediaShout 6 on Windows 7

MediaShout 6 requires certain Visual C++ elements to be installed on your computer to function properly. Through Windows updates, most users have the needed files without any additional installation. However, if you see a series of missing DLL and Ordinal errors when installing or attempting to run MediaShout 6, you are most likely missing the Visual C++ 2015 update. You can download and install that from Microsoft's website: **Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 (https://downlo...
