Some of our customers have experienced an issue where MediaShout will lock up and crash at the very end of a video file. This most often happens when playing MP4 files. In nearly all cases this problem is due to the computer attempting to use a codec that is not compatible with the DirectX process we are using to create the Main Display output.
If you have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed, here are the steps to resolve the issue:
- Close MediaShout.
- Make sure that you have the latest version of Quicktime installed.
- Go to Start > All Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Tools > Codec Tweak Tool.
- Select the Manage source filters button (This assumes that you have K-Lite version 7.20 installed).
- Make sure that MP4 and MOV are set to use the MediaLooks QT Source setting.
- Run MediaShout and test to see if the problem is resolved.
If you do not have K-Lite installed, try the following steps:
- Close MediaShout.
- Make sure that you have the latest version of Quicktime installed.
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Select MediaShout 4, then right-click on it and select Change (or click the Change button at the top).
- Select Repair when you are offered the option to choose what to do, then continue until the repair is finished.
- Run MediaShout and test to see if the problem is resolved.
