MediaComplete includes a wide range of bible translations with our MediaShout software, including most of the common translations that are copyrighted by their publishers. We are able to do so because we have negotiated contracts with the publishers that specify the terms of our distribution and the royalties we pay them. When you purchase MediaShout, those royalties are included in your purchase and you have the right to present those translations using our software.
In 2011, Zondervan (Now under HarperCollins) released an updated version of the New International Version (NIV) of the bible to replace the 1984 version as well as the TNIV. They have specified that the TNIV and the1984 version should no longer be published or distributed since it has been replaced by the 2011 version. Due to the terms of our contract with Zondervan, we are no longer allowed to distribute the 1984 version of the NIV with our software.
While we understand the perspective of Zondervan, and the reasoning behind their decision, we also understand that many of our customers have an existing investment in pew bibles and other resources that are specific to these versions, not to mention potential issues with changes in the translation itself. Unfortunately, while we would prefer to meet the desires and needs of our customers, we are prevented from doing so by our contractual obligation to Zondervan.
