(5012 error) - Error when attempting to activate MediaShout 7

Software License Activation Limits

MediaShout 7 now limits license activation to the most recent releases. This ensures you have the best experience and access to bug fixes and improvements we've already made. You can still activate slightly older releases if needed, but very old versions will be blocked.

If You See an Activation Error

If your version is too old to activate, you'll see one of these messages:

If running prior to v7.6.3:

Activation error for versions prior to 7.6.3

If running v7.6.3 or newer:

Activation error for v7.6.3 and newer

How to Fix It

Why This Happens

Most users download MediaShout directly from our website each time they install, so this rarely affects them. However, some people still use old installers saved on USB drives or archived on older computers. Releases prior to v7.3.0 (before we added auto-update notifications) are the most problematic—they won't alert you that you're running outdated software.

The same issue can occur if your computer isn't connected to the internet, meaning you might not realize a simple software update could fix your problems.

Keeping current ensures you have the latest bug fixes, performance improvements, and features.
