MediaShout 7 Won't Open or Launch
If MediaShout 7 won't start, the most common fix is updating your Microsoft Visual C++ libraries. Follow these steps.
Step 1: Update Visual C++ Libraries
Visual C++ is a required component for MediaShout. Outdated or missing libraries often prevent the program from launching.
Download and Install
- Click this link: Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One
- On that page, click the blue Download button.
- Choose the first server option from the download list.
- Run the Install_all.bat file. You'll see several confirmation prompts—select Yes on each one.
- Restart your computer.
Try opening MediaShout again. If it launches, you're done. If not, continue to Step 2 below.
Step 2: Reset MediaShout Registry Settings
If updating Visual C++ didn't work, resetting MediaShout's registry configuration may help. This will delete your saved settings, but MediaShout will recreate them when you relaunch.
Backup Your Registry Settings
- Press the Windows key, type Regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MediaShout > MediaShout 7
- Right-click on MediaShout 7 and select Export. Save the file to your Documents folder and name it v7 (this is your backup in case you need it later).
Delete the Registry Key
- Right-click on the MediaShout 7 key again and select Delete.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Try to open MediaShout again.
MediaShout will create new default registry settings on launch. This often resolves launch issues.
