Import Your Song Library into MediaShout 7

If you're upgrading from an older version of MediaShout, follow the steps for your current version to migrate your song library to MediaShout 7.


From MediaShout 3

MediaShout 3 requires manual conversion by our support team.

Export Your Songs

  1. In MediaShout v3.x, go to Tools → ShoutSinger.
  2. Select File → Export Songs.
  3. Choose Text File as the Destination Type.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click the Browse button and save the file to your Desktop with a descriptive name (e.g., "My Songs").
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select which songs to export: Current, All, or Selected.
  9. Complete the export.

Send to Support for Conversion

  1. Right-click the exported file on your Desktop and choose Send To → Compressed (zipped) file.
  2. Email the compressed file to Support@mediashout.com.
  3. Our team will convert it for use in MediaShout 7. This process typically takes 24-48 hours.

Import into MediaShout 7

  1. Once you receive the converted file, open MediaShout 7 and click Insert Lyrics.
  2. Click the Edit tab in the top right corner.
  3. Click the Import Lyrics button (piece of paper icon with arrow) in the top left corner.
  4. Select the converted .SSC file and click Open.

From MediaShout 4 or 4.5

Prepare Your Library

  1. Open a script and ensure the "Decks" panel is visible on the left side. If not, go to Window and check the box for Songs.
  2. Click the Song Library Tools menu (large down arrow) and select Compact and Repair Library. Click OK when complete.

Export Your Songs

  1. Click the Song Library Tools menu again and select Export Songs.
  2. Select Song text file and click Next.
  3. Click the Browse button. If it doesn't open, click Back, try a different export option, click Next, then Back again. Re-select Song text file and try again.
  4. Save the file to your Desktop with a descriptive name.

Send to Support for Conversion

  1. Right-click the exported file on your Desktop and choose Send To → Compressed (zipped) file.
  2. Email the compressed file to Support@mediashout.com.
  3. Our team will convert it for use in MediaShout 7. This process typically takes 24-48 hours.

Import into MediaShout 7

  1. Once you receive the converted file, open MediaShout 7 and click Insert Lyrics.
  2. Click the Edit tab in the top right corner.
  3. Click the Import Lyrics button (piece of paper icon with arrow) in the top left corner.
  4. Select the converted .SSC file and click Open.

From MediaShout 5

Prepare Your Library

  1. Open MediaShout 5 and go to File → Lyric Library → Compact and Repair Library.

Export Your Songs

  1. Open a script and click Insert → Lyric.
  2. In the song list, click the first song, then scroll to the bottom, hold Shift, and click the last song to select all songs.
  3. Right-click any selected song and click Export Lyrics.
  4. Make sure the file type is set to .SSC (MediaShout scripts) and give it a name like "MediaShout 5 Songs". Click Save.

Import into MediaShout 7

  1. Open MediaShout 7 and click Insert Lyrics.
  2. Click the Edit tab in the top right corner.
  3. Click the Import Lyrics button (piece of paper icon with arrow) in the top left corner.
  4. Select the .SSC file you exported from MediaShout 5 and click Open.

From MediaShout 6

Prepare Your Library

  1. Open MediaShout 6 and go to Settings → General Settings → Lyrics. Click Compact.

Export Your Songs

  1. Open a script and click the Insert Lyrics button (under the Home tab).
  2. In the song list, click any song to select it.
  3. Right-click on the lyrics list and select Select All to select all songs.
  4. Right-click any selected song and click Export Lyrics.
  5. Make sure the file type is set to .SSC (MediaShout scripts) and give it a name like "MediaShout 6 Songs". Click Save.

Import into MediaShout 7

  1. Open MediaShout 7 and open a script, then click Insert Lyrics.
  2. Click the Edit tab in the top right corner.
  3. Click the Import Lyrics button (piece of paper icon with arrow) in the top left corner.
  4. Select the .SSC file you exported from MediaShout 6 and click Open.
