If you find that your presentation screen is mirroring your control screen, please follow the directions below carefully. These instructions will guide you through the entire process of setting up Windows Display Settings and MediaShout 6 properly.
For Windows 7 & 8:
1) Make sure that MediaShout is completely closed.
2) Right-click on your desktop. Right-click on your desktop and left-click “Screen Resolution”
3) Make sure that “Multiple Displays” says “Extend these displays”
4) Click “Identify” and note which number physically shows up on the screen that the audience sees.
5) Click on the numbered box in your screen resolution window that corresponds with your audience screen.
6) At this point, you will need to determine what size your physical screen is:
- 4:3 ratio (looks more like a square) = 1024x768
- 16:9 ratio (looks more like a rectangle) = 1280x720
- 16:10ratio (looks like a rectangle as well but just a little taller) = 1280x800
7) Once you have determined which resolution you have, change the resolution.
8) Click “Apply” and “Keep Changes”
9) Make sure that the Windows Wallpaper spans the entire screen. If you see black bars on the top and bottom, or left and right, you have chosen the incorrect resolution. Go back to step 7 and try again.
10) Open up MediaShout 5. Go to the "Tools" menu and "Settings" and "Cue Setup."
11) Under Main Display be sure your “Display Resolution” is the resolution that you set in Windows.
12) Underneath, change it from “Scale the cues to fit” to “Resize the cues”
13) If you have a stage display as well, be sure the resolution matches what you set in Windows as well, and change to “Resize the cues” also.
14) Hit “Apply” and “Ok”.
15) On the "Tool Ribbon" just below the "Menu Bar" select “2 Displays”. If you are using a control screen, audience screen, and stage display, choose “3 Displays”.
16) Close out of MediaShout and re-open
17) Select "Play" on one of your cues and you should be ready to go!
For Windows 10:
1) Make sure that MediaShout is completely closed.
2) Right-click on your desktop and left-click “Display Settings” from the drop down menu.
3) Under "Multiple Displays" there will be a selection box that should be set to “Extend these displays”. It should NOT be set to "Duplicate these displays".
4) Click “Identify” and note which number physically shows up on the screen that the audience sees.
5) Click on the numbered box in your screen resolution window that corresponds with your audience screen.
6) At this point, you will need to determine what size your physical screen is:
1. 4:3 ratio (looks more like a square) = 1024x768.
2. 16:9 ratio (looks more like a rectangle) = 1280x720.
3. 16:10 ratio (looks like a rectangle as well but just a little taller) = 1280x800
7) Once you have determined which resolution you have, change the resolution for your audience screen to one of the resolutions listed in step 6. You do NOT need to change the resolution of your control/operator screen.
8) Click “Apply” and “Keep Changes”
9) Make sure that the Windows Wallpaper or background color spans the entire screen. If you see black bars on the top and bottom, or left and right, you have chosen the incorrect resolution. Go back to step 7 and try again.
10) Under the numbered boxes, you will see “Change the size of text, apps, and other items.” Make sure that the slider bar on every numbered screen is at 100%. If you have to change any of these to 100%, please restart the computer, then continue on in these instructions.
11) Open up MediaShout 5. Go to the "Tools" menu and "Settings" and "Cue Setup."
12) Under Main Display be sure your “Display Resolution” is the resolution that you set in Windows.
13) Underneath, change it from “Scale the cues to fit” to “Resize the cues”. This reconstructs your cues instead of juststretches them to fit.
14) If you have a stage display as well as an audience screen, change that resolution to match what you set in Windows as well, and change it to “Resize the cues” also.
15) Hit “Apply” and “Ok”
16) On the "Tool Ribbon" just below the "Menu Bar" select “2 Displays”. If you are using a control screen, audience screen, and stage display, choose “3 Displays”.
17) Close out of MediaShout and re-open
18) Double-click one of your cues and you should be ready to go!
