MediaShout uses DirectX 9 components in Windows for functionality. During the installation of the program, MediaShout will look for DirectX 9 components on the computer that it is being installed on.  Sometimes the computer does not have all of the components that it needs to run properly.  At that point, MediaShout will try to download and install the DirectX components automatically through your default Internet browser.

Occasionally, however, users do experience issues with Windows not installing DirectX 9 properly which prevents MediaShout from being able to continue with the software installation. To fix this issue, we recommend downloading and installing the latest version of DirectX 9 separately, then complete your installation of MediaShout.

The instructions and file for downloading and installing/updating DirectX directly from the internet are available in the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.

If you do not have an internet connection or the web installed fails, you can download using the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) on another computer, and take it to the MediaShout computer using a thumb drive, CD, etc.  After you put the file on the target computer you can install using the following instructions:

  1. Create a new, empty folder on your desktop and name it DirectX Installer.
  2. Double-click on the downloaded DirectX installer file.
  3. Click Yes to accept the license terms.
  4. Click Browse and select the folder that you created on the desktop, then OK to extract the files.
  5. Once it's done extracting, open the folder you specified during the extraction process.
  6. Find the file called DXSETUP.exe.
  7. If using Vista or Win7, right-click the file and choose Run as administrator; otherwise simply double-click to run.
  8. Once you are finished with the installation you can delete the DirectX Installer folder from your desktop if desired.

If Microsoft no longer makes the Manual June 2010 Installer available, clicking Here will download a Zip file. Simply extract the file and pick up on step #6.
