Support & Latest Download

This version of MediaShout is no longer supported and although we can't say it won't work, it was never designed for or tested on Windows 10. If you are going to install it on Windows 10 or any other computer, do not use any disc you may have. Instead, please use the download in the link below. It is a zip folder with 2 files in it. CCLI Reports

CCLI Reporting TechPartner has developed a script that will accept a ZIP archive of your Mediashout scripts (.ssc files). The script will extract the contents, walk through the songs, and email you a text report totaling how many times each song has been used, by SongID. Also included is the Author, Copyright, and CreateDate so you can more closely nail down the song you are reporting. This tool has been tested, however, we can't make any guarantees as to its accuracy, so we are providing this...

Where are all of the songs in MediaShout v4.

We occasionally get calls asking "Where are all of the hymns?" There used to be over 2400, and now there aren't. Many of our users felt that these songs didn't add value to the product, and some thought that they actually detracted from the product, so we separated them. We've made the additional songs available in a separate song library file that you can download here (https://mediacomplete.ladesk.com/scripts/file.php?view=Y&file=95f8ecffe076b1acf1e0426f8962ec5a). Importing a v2 Song Library into v4

Version 4 imports v2 song libraries differently than v3, but the process isn’t difficult. With a v2 file, you can simply assign that database file as the current song library in the v4 settings, and v4 will recognize that it is a v2 file and offer to convert it. This leaves you in a situation, however, where you are not using the default file names and locations for your song library. While that's not a huge issue, it could lead to confusion down the road, so we recommend following this process ...

DirectX Errors

MediaShout uses DirectX 9 components in Windows for functionality. During the installation of the program, MediaShout will look for DirectX 9 components on the computer that it is being installed on. Sometimes the computer does not have all of the components that it needs to run properly. At that point, MediaShout will try to download and install the DirectX components automatically through your default Internet browser. Occasionally, however, users do experience issues with Windows not install...

Deactivating MediaShout v4 & Computer ID

(If you do not have internet access you will need to contact our customer care team and they can assist you with deactivati...

Importing a v3 Song Library into v4

To use MediaShout v3 songs in v4 you will need to import them into the v4 database. If you have MediaShout v3 installed on the same machine, then you can use the v3 database (Songs3.mdb) located in My Shout > Song Library. If you do not have v3 installed on the same machine, you can copy the file from another computer that does have it installed and bring it to the computer and import it into v4. The only other option would be to reinstall MediaShout v3 from the original installation disk on ...

Occasionally, when attempting to use a song from the song library an error will occur: "tx4ole13" "The current text area is too small. (1-2602)" . "Another version of this product..." Error

Occasionally our customers receive the error "Another version of this product is already installed" when trying to install MediaShout. This is typically seen on a computer that MediaShout has been previously uninstalled from or deleted from. This happens because there are registry entries in the Windows' registry that occasionally do not get deleted with the uninstall. The first thing that we recommend doing is a clean reinstallation of MediaShout. Here are links to a knowledge base ar...

Why can't I access any fonts other than "Device Font 10cpi"?

Sometimes users will experience an issue where the only font that is accessible when editing text is "Device Font 10cpi". This usually happens because there is no default printer set up in Windows. To fix this, you need to go to your printer preferences and select a printer as the default. This setting has an influence on what fonts are available in MediaShout.

Setting the "DISSOLVE" speed of text.

MediaShout processes transitions differently depending on whether you are using a still background or a motion background. This can cause some confusion because the process to change a transition setting is dependent on which type of background and transition you are changing. If you are using a still background (JPG, PNG, etc.), the transition setting on the Cue tab and on the Background tab are linked together. This transition applies to both the text layer and the background layer since neit...

Changing Default Text Settings

The text settings for text, lyric, and Bible cue templates are fully customizable. You may want to change the settings of the default template so you do not have to reformat the text each time you create a new cue. The default text settings are modified on the Foreground tab of the Cue Editor. **Changing the default text settings** To change the default text settings of the default template, follow these steps: 1. Open the cue in the Cue Editor. 2. Change the view in Cue Editor to Advanc...

Exporting a cue to a graphic file

The composite image of a cue (i.e., the image the audience sees) can be captured like a screenshot and saved as a .jpeg file. For example, if you export a text cue to a graphic, the .jpeg image will show the text over the background. When a multiple-page cue is exported, the program generates a .jpeg for each page. **Exporting a cue to a graphic file** * In the Script pane, select the cue. If the cue contains multiple pages, make sure that it's expanded. * Select Edit > Convert >...

Using the 'Alternative Method for Setting Frame Marks'

Certain DVDs contain code that makes the DVD always start at the beginning or at the FBI warning. If MediaShout detects this code, it deactivates the In field. If the In field is active, but the clip does not start at the proper frame, use the alternative method for setting your In frame marks. **Using the alternative method to mark frames** * In the Select Video DVD dialog box, select Use alternative method for setting frame marks. * If the DVD is not already playing, click Menus, se...

**Importing PowerPoint Songs into MediaShout v4.5** Sometimes our users want to use MediaShout to play songs that were originally created as a Microsoft PowerPoint file. Using Click-to-Run PowerPoint with MediaShout

Microsoft offers the Office product in several forms, and one of those will not work with MediaShout. The delivery methods are: - Disk, the traditional method, - Download (or preinstalled), a no-media version of the disk based installer, and - Click-to-Run, a version that downloads components as you need them via the internet. Because the Click-to-Run version doesn’t install all of the components, that version doesn’t support interaction with other software products like MediaShout....

Controlling MediaShout with MIDI

We don't directly support external control other than generic remote controls via the Slide Show mode. We do, however, have some information in PDF form that may be useful if you are sufficiently knowledgeable in programming or interfacing PC applications together. It involves the use of an automation software package called Girder, and it can enable some pretty impressive capabilities if you dig into it and are creative. I haven't had time to read the whole PDF, but I've attached it for your re...

Setting Up MediaShout in a Network Environment

There are different ways that MediaShout can be set up in networked environment, and each has pros and cons. The program can be configured so that it uses a common, shared My Shout folder that is stored on the network--and many users do this--but this is usually not necessary and can have a couple of drawbacks. Another, and usually preferable, configuration is to set each MediaShout computer to use a common song database and/or folder of templates while keeping all of the other settings to their...

Adding Audio files to MediaShout

Adding Audio files to MediaShout requires that the audio file be in a format that's stored on your local hard drive. We generally recommend MP3 format, since this is the universal de-facto standard in audio file storage. If you have a CD, you'll need to rip the CD to your hard drive. Many audio programs, including iTunes (instructions for iTunes) (http://www.macworld.com/article/156861/2011/01/howto_rip_cds.html) and Windows Media Player (instructions for Windows Media Player) (http://windows.mi...

Incorrect Thumbnail Images in File Deck

In a few rare instances, we've seen cases where the File deck displays thumbnails images that do not match the file. In most of these cases the thumbnail image for each file will be shown in the folder, but it will be paired with the incorrect file. Fortunately, there is an easy solution to fix this issue. Because you will need to delete a hidden file, make sure that hidden files and folders are shown: * Go to the Control Panel and choose Folder Options; * Select the 'View' tab; * Selec...

Video Tearing in v4.5 under Windows 7

Some video files may exhibit a visual artifact known as "tearing" when playing back through MediaShout. If you're not familiar with this issue, it appears as a thin, horizontal line that may sporadically occur in a similar place on the screen -- though it doesn't always -- while video is playing. For a more detailed description of this issue, see this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing). If you experience this issue when using version 4.5 under Windows 7, you will nee...

Repagination & Intended Display Resolution

MediaShout automatically creates cues at the resolution of the Main display screen. However, if no Main display screen is connected when a cue is created or modified, it is created at the Intended Resolution that is set in MediaShout. If you build presentations without a Main display connected, set the Intended Resolution to match the actual resolution of the Main display screen the cues will be presented on. This ensures that MediaShout will not have to modify them in order to display at the co...

Extended Desktop Display is not Available in MediaShout

There is a known issue that will cause a secondary display to not be accessible to MediaShout. It involves the communication channel between the computer and display that is known as DDC or DDC2. If the computer can't discover any information about the device at the end of the video cable, MediaShout will likely refuse to use it. You will be able to determine if this is an issue by looking in Windows Display Properties to see how Windows labels the device. If it is called by its actual device na...
